The sermon of the day centered on the theme: "Mzee at the school of Josiah, all at the school of Josiah." Reverend Pastor Meme from the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC) stated during his sermon that the Democratic Republic of Congo needs to see the rise of more Laurent Désiré Kabila and Lumumba.

"Our country needs to foster the emergence of other Patrice Emery Lumumba and Mzee Laurent Désiré Kabila", said Reverend Pastor Meme, drawing from his sermon in the book of 2 Kings 22:1-2.

The family of Mzee Laurent Desiré Kabila was present at the celebration. Notably present were the president of the Mzee Laurent Désiré Kabila Foundation, Jaynet Kabila, Marie Olive Lembe Kabila, the former first lady of the country and daughter-in-law of the former Congolese president, among other dignitaries.

The government marked its presence at the ceremony, particularly with the attendance of the Minister in charge of Digital Affairs, Eberande Kolongele Cashmir, and the Minister of Industry, Julien Paluku.

Speaking on behalf of the Mzee Kabila family, they pointed out that on January 16, 2024, it will have been 23 years since Mzee was assassinated. A man of exceptional courage and a nationalist. Mzee was, according to the family representative, an inspiration for the Congolese youth.

"After the assassination of Patrice Emery Lumumba on January 17, 1961, Mzee told his mother - when he was only 20 years old - that he would become another Lumumba and that he would continue his fight until the last day of his life," she recalled.
