The Democratic Republic of Congo was leading the score at the end of the first half by 14 to 15. However, Francis Tuzolana's men lost their way throughout the last thirty minutes, conceding 22 goals while scoring only 8. Just like in 2022 against Tunisia, the DRC is exiting the competition at the quarter-final stage and has not shown significant improvement over the past two years.
With this elimination, the Leopard Handball team loses all hope of being among the top four ranked to potentially participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The remaining goal for the Congolese is to fight for the 5th place classification.
