The Congolese striker has been shortlisted for the Interclub Player of the Year award. Chancel Bemba, a Congolese defender playing for Olympique de Marseille, who was originally selected for the Player of the Year shortlist, has been removed.

The CAF released on Friday, November 17, the shortlists for the male categories of the 2023 CAF Awards. Ten players remain in the running for the highly coveted title of Player of the Year, including the Senegalese Sadio Mane, winner of the last edition.

The Interclub Player of the Year has 10 contenders, while the categories for Goalkeeper of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, National Team of the Year, and Club of the Year each have five contenders.

The winner of each category will be determined by votes from a panel comprised of the CAF Technical Commission, media professionals, head coaches, and captains of member associations and clubs involved in the group stages of interclub competitions.

The awards ceremony will take place on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Palais des Congrès, Movenpick, in the city of Marrakech, Morocco.
