A batch of chickens imported from Poland is banned for consumption in the DRC.

In a statement released on Thursday in Kinshasa, the Minister of External Trade, Jean-Lucien Busa, has prohibited the marketing, movement, and consumption throughout the DRC of batch number 191/03/23 of frozen poultry meat originating from Poland via the Netherlands.

The said statement explains that these products were delivered in November 2023 to Kinshasa by the Polish company CEDROB SA to the company Congo Advanced Business Sarlu, based in the DRC.

The Minister of External Trade, who stresses the health risks and the danger that the consumption of these products poses to human health, has instructed all services operating at borders to seize any cargo containing these products.

These products could endanger the life of the Congolese population, which generally does not take into account the conditions of production, preservation, and even the quality of the food it consumes.
