The President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, returned to Kinshasa, Friday evening, from Luanda, Angola where he took part in a mini-quadripartite summit of the Great Lakes region, alongside his peers of Angola, Rwanda and Uganda.

According to a press release published at the end of this one-day summit, which took place in a brotherhood climate and perfect harmony, the Heads of State examined the political, economic and security situation on the continent in general and in particularly in the sub-region.

They showed the importance of a permanent, frank and open dialogue, which should be strengthened both bilaterally among the States of the region, and in the multilateral framework, for the consolidation of peace and security, as fundamental principle of economic integration.

This meeting follows the Tripartite Summit held in Kinshasa on May 31, 2019 between the Heads of State of the Republic of Angola, the Republic of Rwanda and the DRC, as well as the consultations conducted by the Special Envoy of the Republic of Angola to the President of Uganda on 18 May 2019 to Kampala, Uganda.

At the mini-summit in Luanda, the Congo-Angola-Rwanda tripartite (CAR) teamed up with Uganda to solve the various problems in the sub-region. This explains the presence of President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta in this meeting.

Last Thursday, José Joao, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Angola, arrived at the end of his mandate and explained to President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, on the occasion of his farewell visit, the program of the quadripartite of the sub-region of Great Lakes in Luanda.

The Congolese delegation at this meeting included, among others, the chief of staff of the Head of State, Vital Kamerhe, the special advisor on security of Félix Tshisekedi, Mr. François Beya Kasonga and the head of the National Intelligence Agency (ANR), Justin Inzun Kakiak. The three Presidents were met at Luanda Airport by Angolan Foreign Minister Manuel Augusto and Luanda Governor Luther Rescova Joaquim.
