From 21 to 25 February 2019, the United States Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region, Dr. J. Peter Pham, visited the Democratic Republic of the Congo. During his visit in Kinshasa, he met with President Felix Tshisekedi and other government officials, representatives of Congolese civil society and religious leaders, as well as representatives of the country's entire political class, including the former presidential candidate Martin Fayulu. During these meetings, he stressed that the United States stand with the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo, following the historic and peaceful transfer of power in the DRC.

"I congratulated President Tshisekedi on his investiture exactly one month ago and I insisted that the United States pledge to support him, as well as his efforts to satisfy the clear desire for change expressed by the Congolese people. We are encouraged by the number of important steps that President Tshisekedi has already taken during his first month in office to fight corruption, increase transparency, promote accountability and enhance respect for human rights. Man, " Dr. J. Peter Pham says, adding that while the government is in the process of training, we look forward to cooperating with a new team committed to advancing these shared values.

This is not only a strong signal that the United States give, but also a message to the President of the Republic who must, on good date, appoint a new Prime Minister, who will have the task of forming his Government. This message, especially to say to him that it will not be necessary to name the people who were sanctioned either by the European Union or by the United States of America- Is this a way for the United States to interfere in the internal policy of the DRC?

It is here that some observers of the Congolese political scene did not hesitate to say, with regard to the sanctions inflicted on some Congolese authorities, that it is a pressure exerted on the new president or a new political card that the Americans would like to impose him. As if to say that the Americans would like to put the current President of the Republic back on the wall, in a situation where he cannot refuse them anything...
