In order to combat impunity for crimes committed against journalists and media professionals, a steering committee has been established to raise awareness among the public, mobilize the international community, and put pressure on the competent Congolese authorities to obtain redress for victims of press crimes.

This initiative was launched by the advocacy group "Justice for Franck Ngyke Kangundu and Hélène Mpaka," initiated since August by his biological family and his employer "La Référence plus" in collaboration with media professional associations and human rights defense organizations.

It aims to achieve two objectives, namely the recognition by the head of state, the supreme magistrate Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, of the martyrs of press freedom, and the erection of a statue in memory of murdered journalists in a square dedicated to the annual commemoration of press freedom.
