"We are in politics and our country has chosen the path of democracy. Democracy works notably through elections. We have just come out of the polls," reacted the UNC deputy, Jean Beaudouin Mayo Mambeke, after the victory of his leader, Vital Kamerhe.

For him, after the UDPS which holds the prime minister's office, the National Assembly should go to Vital Kamerhe, as the second political force of the Sacred Union of the Nation. "The UDPS, as the leading political force, holds the primacy and the second political force is the AA/UNC, the coalition of Vital Kamerhe, who now takes the lead of the National Assembly. However, even those who do not have deputies came to throw a spanner in the works and prevent the head of state from giving this opportunity to his collaborator who came out second in the elections. Vital Kamerhe has democratically recovered what some cunning people wanted to take away from him a few years ago," he added.

With 183 votes recorded out of 372 voters, Vital Kamerhe won the primaries ahead of Christophe Mboso (113 votes) and Bahati Lukwebo (69 votes). There were seven (7) blank ballots. At the National Assembly, this vote was organized on Tuesday evening, under the direction of the Presidium of the Sacred Union and presided over by the Secretary General of the UDPS, Augustin Kabuya.

Vital Kamerhe is on track to occupy the presidency of the National Assembly for the second time in its history. He held this position under Joseph Kabila before being forced to resign following a misunderstanding with his former political family, the PPRD.
