These individuals are calling on authorities by drawing their attention to the humanitarian situation that has been prevailing in this region of the country since last week, with the arrival of other displaced persons four days ago. These thousands of families come from areas such as Shasha, Kirotshe, Buhunga, Kituva, Mwambaliro, and who have neither food nor water, reports Radio Okapi.
They further specify by saying that the previous displaced people had already been living in difficult conditions and without any assistance since their arrival in Sake four months ago and are currently housed in four sites, namely in the Maman Zaina camp, Mahyusa, Kizimbo, and Tchabiringa.
Waterborne diseases are already striking a good number of people who are also being taken care of, albeit minimally, by the NGO Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), report consistent sources in Sake, indicating poor living conditions in this area.
For its part, civil society is lamenting the detonations of six bombs dropped by alleged rebels in the town of Sake, which wounded a child, and adds that this situation is negatively impacting the proper functioning of schools, which have been closed for 8 days.
These civil society actors are asking the authorities to protect the town of Sake, which remains the last stronghold to the south before reaching the city of Goma.
