According to the testimonies of this inhabitant, this situation does not allow the population of Rutshuru to meet their daily needs. Indeed, some among them are forced to convert their maize production into an alcoholic beverage commonly known as "Lutuku", in order to be able to pay for their children's education, medical care, or even rent, lamented this resident.
In a statement recently released, the rebel group backed by Rwanda has also banned the populations from producing these local drinks, which was a relief for some to avoid losing all their maize stocks.
