Out of at least 2,096 malnourished children, 1,789 have been cured within a year in Punia, in the province of Maniema, according to a report from the national nutrition program (PRONANUT)/Maniema published on Thursday, April 8, 2024.

The document states that there are numerous causes of malnutrition in Punia. These include food insecurity, epidemics, and other hazards.

These children were supported with the help of the NGO Action Against Hunger (ACF) through the Emergency Response Project for Nutrition and Nutrition Security.

Furthermore, the report indicates that PRONANUT is pleased with ACF's efforts in adhering to protocols and achieving the monitoring and evaluation indicators for activities.

PRONANUT notes that instructions have been given to various providers because ACF has left supplies to cover at least two months, and providers are instructed to manage these supplies well.

The document added that despite the closure of the project with a two-month stock of supplies, approximately 425 children remain under ACF's monitoring.
