The opening ceremony of this event took place this Wednesday at Fleuve Congo Hotel in the presence of the Minister of State and Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Eve Bazaiba, as well as other technical and financial partners.
The first day saw the participation of delegates from the indigenous Pygmy peoples and local communities, actors from environmental civil society NGOs, and representatives of the private sector who are engaged in the theme of nature conservation, the environment, and sustainable development as a whole.
The panel of the day was devoted to thematically presenting state services and the private sector. A report on the state of nature conservation in the DRC was made, as well as sharing information on ongoing reforms, including the integration of biodiversity conservation and the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities in policies and laws.
At the end of these 3 days of work, the participants will develop a roadmap and methodological approach for the formulation of the national strategy on nature conservation outside of protected areas in the DRC.
