Since Monday, April 15th, tensions have been recorded between train passengers and local residents of the Kingabwa neighborhood, near 14th Street, in the Limete municipality. Last Monday, scuffles took place between passengers and onlookers. The latter had threatened some train passengers with reprisals the following day, according to some witnesses contacted by Digitalcongo.cd

"From the Central Station, our train took on police officers to ward off any attack on the vehicle by these onlookers. Upon arriving at 14th Street, we observed that these youths were there to throw projectiles at the train passengers. That's when the onboard police officers disembarked to chase down these unruly individuals. Gunshots were fired. The terraces that line the railroad tracks were scattered, including the businesses that are in the vicinity," reported Léon Omba, a passenger of this locomotive.

Some witnesses claim that these onlookers are members of the "Kuluna," who try to extort goods from train passengers, while others explain that these youths were responding to the provocation of certain passengers who criticized the fact that these onlookers live on the railway. This event caused some injuries but also the loss of property for some local merchants.
