The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior was welcomed at the bottom of the gangway by Isabelle Yumba Kalenga Mushimbi, governor of Haut-Lomami. Deputy PM Peter Kazadi discussed the purpose of his mission, which can be summarized as a call for peace to the various communities in disagreement in this part of the former Katanga.

"I have come as part of my regional visits, to see the province, assess the state of the province's security, and above all bring a message of peace to the different communities that are clashing here," said Peter Kazadi, as reported by the communication service of his ministry.

For more than two months, Haut-Lomami has been rocked by intermittent conflicts between communities. In the territory of Malemba Nkulu, there have been reported scenes of aggression between certain members of the lubakat and luba communities in this part of the country. Similarly, in Luena, intercommunal conflicts have also been reported. This prompted the head of the territorial administration to assess the security in this part of the country and to bring a message of peace to the local communities.
