President Félix Tshisekedi thanked his Mauritanian counterpart and current Chair of the African Union, Mr. Ghazouani, for the support of this continental organization in the peace efforts in the DRC and for the endorsement by the AU's Peace and Security Council of the intervention of the SADC mission (SAMIDRC) in the east of the country.
According to the presidency of the DRC which provided this information, "President Tshisekedi thanked Mr. Ghazouani for the African Union (AU)'s support to the peace efforts in the DRC and for the endorsement by the AU's Peace and Security Council of the intervention of the SADC mission (SAMIDRC) in the east of the country".
The same source noted: "Furthermore, the Head of State was pleased with the identification of M23 as a negative force, on the same level as the ADF and FDLR" before noting that the Mauritanian President commended President Tshisekedi's experience, which he promises to consult regularly.
