President Félix Tshisekedi, facilitator of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) for the Chadian transition, has taken note of the appointment, this Monday by his counterpart Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno of the former opponent Succès Masra as Prime Minister of the transitional government in Chad," announces on its Twitter account the presidency of the DRC.

"The Head of State (referring to the Congolese), who presided over the signing of an agreement on October 31 last year in Kinshasa between the Chadian government and Mr. Masra's party for the latter's return to Chad, applauds the reconciliation efforts of the Chadian people who have chosen the path of peace," adds the same source.

The aforementioned source also stresses: "President Félix Tshisekedi, facilitator of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) in the Chadian crisis, has acknowledged this decision and commends the efforts of the Chadians who have opted for the path of peace, hails the reconciliation efforts of the Chadian people who have chosen the path of peace."

President of the party "Les Transformateurs", Succès Masra has been designated Prime Minister of Chad by the Chadian transitional president Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno.

Les Transformateurs, which is one of the main opposition political parties, had called on its members to vote "yes" in the referendum for a new Chadian constitution that was promulgated.

Designated facilitator by the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), Félix Tshisekedi, successfully orchestrated the signature of a "principle agreement" in October 2023 in Kinshasa between the Transitional Government of the Republic of Chad, represented by Adberaman Koulamallah, Minister of Reconciliation and Social Cohesion, and the political party "Les Transformateurs".

The agreement aimed to facilitate the return to Chad of the President of the political party "Les Transformateurs" as well as all those who had to leave Chadian territory due to the unfortunate events that occurred on October 20, 2022, it is recalled in this message which also stresses that the ECCAS Facilitation Mission for the Transition Process in Chad relies on the good faith of the signatory parties to guarantee effective implementation of this agreement.

The ECCAS Facilitation Mission, led by Félix Tshisekedi of the DRC, has reaffirmed its commitment to support the Chadian people in easing the political climate with a view to organizing democratic, free, transparent, and peaceful elections.
