At the National Assembly, this vote was organized under the direction of the Presidium of the Sacred Union and chaired by the Secretary-General of the UDPS, Augustin Kabuya.

Sacred Union primaries: Vital Kamerhe wins and automatically becomes the sole candidate of the Sacred Union of the Nation for the presidency of the National Assembly

Out of 372 national deputies who participated in the primary vote held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the national assembly under the direction of the Secretary-General of the UDPS, 183 voted for Kamerhe, 113 for Mboso, while 69 voted for Bahati Lukwebo. There were 7 invalid ballots.

In light of these results, Vital Kamerhe has been declared the winner of these primaries and has become the sole candidate of the Sacred Union for the election of the President of the Permanent Bureau of the National Assembly.

For UNC deputy, Jean Baudouin Mayo, Vital Kamerhe has "democratically recovered what some cunning friends wanted to take away from him". This close associate of Vital Kamerhe felt that "even those who do not have deputies came to muddle the waters". In his view, God has rendered justice to Vital Kamerhe who is at the head of the second largest political force within the National Assembly.

Well before this vote, Vital Kamerhe had indicated that he greatly missed the microphone of the National Assembly. It is worth noting that the man was a former president of this legislative body. He led it for 2 years before being forced to resign by his former political family, the PPRD, due to a misunderstanding.

It must be specified that not all deputies of the Sacred Union for the Nation took part in these primaries. About 70 elected officials were absent.
