In his capacity as guardian of the proper functioning of institutions, the Head of State asked Madame Mutombo to discuss with the chief prosecutor at the Court of Cassation so he could draw the attention of the various chief prosecutors to all these rumors of corruption. It was following the discussions, which took place on Tuesday, March 12 at the African Union City, with the President of the Republic regarding the behavior of certain provincial deputies who would be selling their votes to senatorial and gubernatorial candidates, according to a dispatch from the Presidential Communication Unit.
"This must stop. We cannot continue to accept such blatant corruption. There must be severe sanctions for anyone caught in the act of selling their vote. Anyone arrested will have to face the consequences of their behavior," declared Rose Mutombo, Minister of Justice.
Given that the CENI schedule has been revised, it is worth noting that the senatorial elections are scheduled for April 21, and the voting for governors and deputy governors will take place on April 28 of the same month.
Let us remember that these elections were initially scheduled for March 31 and April 7, 2024, according to the CENI calendar, but there has been a postponement of three weeks.
