“The DRC hosted a major event that was a success. Perfection does not exist in any human endeavor,” declared Jean-Claude Gakosso after coming out from the meeting with President Tshisekedi. The head of the diplomacy of Congo-Kinshasa then paid tribute to the Congolese people and to the authorities of the DRC for the calm that prevailed after the elections of December 20, 2023.
The immediate neighbor of Kinshasa, Brazzaville took a different approach in conveying its congratulations. Several African capitals sent messages via official X accounts either of heads of state or their presidencies.
This was the case for Kenyan President William Ruto, Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni, Senegal’s Macky Sall, Comoros’ Azali Assoumani, Zambia’s Hakainde Hichilema, Tanzania’s Samia Suluhu, Namibia’s Hage Geingob, and South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa. The Togolese, Faure Gnassingbé, used the same channel.
