The president of the CSAC, Christian Bosembe, revealed this decision on Saturday, December 9, 2023, during a morning exchange with students of the National Pedagogical University (UPN). According to him, this show violates morals, and it is imperative to suspend it to preserve cultural values and Congolese customs.

"In the same way that we have banned broadcasts of homosexual content and others, it is in this same manner that we are going to shut down The Bachelor, this shameful, disgraceful, stupefying, and perverse show," declared Christian Bosembe.

Furthermore, after the announcement of this measure, women's and girls' rights activist Grâce Israëlla Kangundu welcomed the decision which, for her, although late and almost at the end of the program, is seen as an important step towards the preservation of traditional values and the respect of the dignity of African women.

According to madame Kangundu, the concept of this reality TV show goes against the traditional values and customs deeply rooted in African culture. "This decision of the CSAC is a strong signal sent to the Congolese society and the entire African community. It highlights the need to preserve the dignity and respect of African women, as well as to promote television programs that reflect the positive cultural and traditional values of the region," she argued.

For the record, "The Bachelor" is a Canal + production presented by influencer Emma Lohoues in the format of romantic encounters between a man and several women. It popularizes seduction, meaning a man meets 20 contenders to assess them and choose only one woman among them to whom he will propose marriage.
