Facing the situation caused by the security conditions prevailing in the Eastern Part of the DRC, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) who is also the Head of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in this country (MONUSCO) raised an alarm on Wednesday, March 27, at the Security Council.

Bintou Keita has thus called on donors to provide the necessary resources to offer adequate humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Furthermore, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in the DRC has indicated that the security situation in the east of the DRC has further deteriorated since the end of the elections, with the M23 making unprecedented territorial gains, resulting in worsening the humanitarian crisis and leading to unprecedented population displacements.
