According to Captain Anthony Muwalushayi, spokesman for the Sukola 1 Grand-Nord operations cited by the ACP, "fleeing the forced recruitment by the terrorist M23 subjected to Rwanda, in the localities under their control, 786 youths, among them 26 girls, have committed to being officially recruited into the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo."

They were gathered at a special site located in Rwindi in the territory of Rutshuru, before being taken to the Chiko Tshitambwe military camp about ten kilometers west of Beni by Colonel Faustin Ndakala, in charge of recruitment in North Kivu.

The latter indicated that a parade was held in the presence of a delegation from Monusco and UNICEF to identify minors and protect them in accordance with laws aimed at the protection of children.
