About a hundred young people from the province of Ituri, grouped in several organizations, committed on Saturday, February 17, to promote peace and social cohesion.

They took this commitment during a gala evening on peaceful coexistence and living together organized by the provincial youth council.

The president of this provincial council, Deogratias Bungamuzi, emphasized that the main objective of this meeting was to provide young people with a framework for exchange, dialogue, and consolidation of democratic values, a guarantee of development.

But also to preserve love, unity, and forgiveness for the promotion of lasting peace in the province. According to him, it was a successful bet.

During this evening, the security situation of the province was thoroughly reviewed.

The discussions particularly focused on the intensification of the security crisis in the East of the country, and the resurgence of abuses by armed groups that have signed ceasefire agreements in the territory of Djugu, the epicenter of armed conflicts in Ituri.

These young people also made the decision to fight against any form of manipulation that tends to destabilize the country and is likely to create tensions between communities.
