Belgian politicians of Congolese origin invited, during a press conference in Brussels, Belgium, the international community to recognize the ongoing genocide in the DRC and demand the establishment of an International Criminal Tribunal for Congo.

They emphasized: "We call on the countries of the international community to finally acknowledge that a genocide has been unfolding in the DRC for years, and we loudly demand the creation of an International Criminal Tribunal, to judge the warlords, to end impunity, and to redress the damages caused by all these atrocities."

Regardless of political affiliation, they decided to speak with one voice and to call out the international community and Belgium "for their deafening silence" on the atrocities committed, and against the double standards of those who say they condemn the aggression of the DRC by Rwanda while at the same time subscribing to Kigali’s unproven lie of supposed collaboration between the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) and the Rwandan rebels of the FDLR.

Punitive Measures Against Rwanda

They denounced any attempt at manipulation on this subject and recommended the establishment of a commission of inquiry under the auspices of the UN to shed light on the issue. They expressed outrage over the partnership concluded on February 17th by the European Union and Rwanda regarding a value chain on strategic minerals stolen from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

These politicians also urged the United States, the European Union, and Belgium to show more firmness towards Rwanda, through punitive measures as well as administrative, political, diplomatic, economic, and financial sanctions. Additionally, they called for the exhumation and implementation of the Mapping Report, in order to compel the country to remove its influence from the Congo.
