The provisional President of the National Assembly, Mboso Nkodia, bowed to the pressure of the deputies by publishing on Wednesday, May 8, the schedule for the election of the permanent bureau members of this deliberative body.

This schedule sets the election for the permanent bureau members of the National Assembly on May 18, 2024, that is to say, in 10 days.

As for the submission of candidacies, it must be carried out within the following 48 hours to allow the different political forces to prepare. To be admissible, the candidature statements must be accompanied by various documents.

This includes a letter of consent signed by the political party or grouping, a passport-sized photo, as well as a detailed curriculum vitae attesting to the sincerity and accuracy of the information provided.

Candidacies for the various positions of the permanent bureau must be presented by the Majority, the Opposition, and the Non-affiliated, in accordance with the criteria provided by the Internal Regulations of the National Assembly. These criteria notably include the education, experience, credibility, and respectability of the candidates.

After this stage of the submission of candidacies, the election and installation of the permanent bureau members will follow. This will be succeeded by the hearing of the candidates' messages.

To reach this point, the deputies (100 in total) gathered within the "Dynamique Surveillance" (DYNASUR) signed the petition demanding the downfall of Christophe Mboso, accusing him of having obstructed the process of establishing the permanent bureau.

For the Honorable André Mushongo, this unprecedented petition reflects a widespread feeling of discontent among the elected officials, who see in this approach a way to restore the integrity and efficiency of their institution.
