A head of erosion threatens the railway of the national Company of the railroads of Congo (SNCC) in Nyunzu, city located at 200 kilometers in the west of Kalemie (Tanganyika). The passage of any machine is not possible any more on the way.

"The engine should not move; let us say even the tractor ", alerted the New civil Society of Congo. The head of erosion threatens the railroad.

This head of erosion is at ten meters of the rails at the level of offices of the territory of Nyunzu. It is about a direct consequence of the rains which fall down in the Area. These rains are at the origin of the crumblings of ground which have just caused a large open ravine to the risk to make collapse the rails.

"We ask the provincial government to invest quickly if not people will die there", launched the coordinator of the New civil Society of Congo, Marcel Sango Muzyanda.

IIt is the same on the side of the public administration of the territory. "It is a case which cannot allow a great tonnage to pass by there; the train cannot move there any more ", the administrator of territory of Nyunzu, Hubert Kanza Vumba pointed out.

He fears a disconnection of the town of Kalemie: "the threat of erosion on the rails in Nyunzu makes run to the SNCC the risk to isolate Management of the Great Lake Areas of the remainder of the inter-connected network, whose seat is Kalemie. Kalemy connects Tanganyika to Kindu (Maniema), to Kamina (Haut-Lomami), to Mwene-Ditu (Lomami), Lubumbashi (Haut-Katanga) and Dilolo (Lwalaba)."
