The president of the Republic, Felix Tshisekedi attended the religious ceremony, organized this Saturday January 16, 2021, at the mausoleum of former president Laurent-Desiré Kabila, in Kinshasa. For the first time, since his nomination on January 24, 2019, the fifth congolese president bent in front of the mortal remains of this former Head of State.

In front of the congolese authorities, in particular Prime Minister Sylvestre Ilunga, of the presidents of two rooms of the Parliament, the general officers and of the police force, Felix Tshisekedi strode along the red carpet unrolled and going towards the mausoleum. On the way of the national anthem which resounded while he was held upright, in front of the mortal remains, Felix Tshisekedi bent then before withdrawing this glazed architecture.

Just after leaving the mausoleum, the president of the Republic addressed some words to the daughter of the national hero, Jaynet Kabila (twin sister of Joseph Kabila), under a gust of the photographers flash.

Several other authorities also bent in front of the tomb of that several Congolese call " People’s soldier". Well before this meditation, several religious leaders spoke, in particular Pastor Sony Kafuta of the Armée de l’Eternel church. On behalf of the family, Pastor Theodore Mugalu, former head of the civil House of the ex-Head of State, Joseph Kabila, thanked president Tshisekedi. He, at the same time, pointed out the importance of the peaceful democratic alternation which, according to him, "was greeted in Africa and in the world."

After this ceremony, a visit is planned to the memorial of Palais de Marbre, in the township of Ngaliema where president Laurent-Desiré Kabila was assassinated, January 16, 2021.
