Cardinal Ambongo: "the presidential pardon granted to Eddy Kapend was obtained in agreement with the Kabila’s family"

"The presidential pardon granted to Eddy Kapend was obtained in agreement with the family of the late Desiré Kabila ", cardinal Fridolin Ambongo declared, at the time of the mass that he said this Saturday January 16 into cathedral Notre Dame du Congo, in memory of Laurent-Desiré Kabila.

The wife of the former president of the Republic, Marie-Olive Kabila was among the people who took part in this celebration which preceded the national tribute ceremony, at the mausoleum, of the third president of the democratic Republic of Congo.

The Head of State, Felix-Antoine Tshisekedi, granted a presidential pardon to condemned lawsuit of the assassination of Laurent-Desiré Kabila. Among them, colonel Eddy Kapend, then head of the Laurent-Desiré camp, condemned to perpetuity in this problem. It was on last 31 December in margin of his message of the wishes to the nation.

The development of cardinal Ambongo intervenes at the time when some thought that this decision was going to frustrate the biological family of his predecessor.
