The former president of the RCD, a rebel movement supported by Rwanda and Uganda in 1998, has died on Wednesday July 15 at the University Clinic of Kinshasa, one learned from the sources close to Solidarity for the development to Manianga (Sodema).
According to same sources, Wamba dia Wamba succumbed because of an attack of asthma after ten days of hospitalization.
The name of famous disappeared is associated the rebellion fomented by the RCD under the patronage of Kigali and Kampala which he managed starting from Goma to make fall the Laurent Désiré Kabila’s system of happy memory. Ousted atat the head of this rebellious movement, Wamba dia Wamba will end up taking refuge in Kisangani where he will create RCD-Wamba in Kisangani, after an estrangement with Mbusa Nyamwisi which he had rejoined within the Rcd-ml.
Native of Luozi in Kongo Central, Ernest Wamba dia Wamba was a professor of history at the University of Dar-es -Salaam in Tanzania and had been very near to former president Julius Nyerere. He also taught the history in prestigious University of Harvard in Cambridge, MA, in the USA.
