At least 51 people died and several tens of Congolese always miss to the call. It is the provisional death toll established in Uvira, the most struck territory by floods due to pouring rain of last week, in South-Kivu.

"The situation is serious, very serious, until now, we have 35 deaths in the town of Uvira. Tens of people are reported missing and several families continue to declare that some of their members are untraceable until now ", affirmed at 7sur7.cd, Kiza Muhato, mayor of the town of Uvira.

According to this mayor, 7 sites primarily the schools were selected to welcome the families which are victims (77,790 people) who do not have families of reception.  On his side, Alexis Kasangala, administrator of the territory of Uvira, revealed that these rains also caused human and material damage in his entity.  There are in particular several damaged houses, the villages flooded of water and the devastated fields.  The two bridges connecting the territory of Uvira to Bukavu, capital of the province, were cut.  

At the time of Council of Ministers held last Friday 17 April, the president of the Republic, Felix Tshisekedi required from the government to assist the touched families before expressing, in the name of the nation, his compassion and solidarity to the tested families.
