The Minister for the Higher education and university (ESU), Thomas Luhaka Losendjola, carried out Monday the launching of work of rehabilitation and modernization of the residences of the students of the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN).

During this ceremony which took place in the presence of the vice-minister of the ESU, Mrs. Liliane Banga, of the vice-chancellor of the UNIKIN, Pr Daniel Ngoma-Ya-Nzuzi and of the general Administration of the ministry of the ESU, Mr. Tshibangu.

This work, Minister in charge of ESU pointed out, will also take into account the rehabilitation of the administrative building, the seat of the Association of the professors of the University of Kinshasa (APUKIN) and the sentry-box of the university guard, ransacked at the time of the unhappy events which have occurred from 6 to January 7, 2020 on this university site.

Recalling that following these events, the government had taken strong measures for the standardization of the situation, he explained why in the tread of these measures, the instruction of the President of the Republic, Felix Antoine Tshisekedi given to the government, to make the provisions to rehabilitate the students’ homes as starting point of the building sites which will open gradually in the establishments of the ESU.

He also specified that this work will be carried out for eight month by the general Administration of the ministry of the ESU, two building firms and the board of management of the UNIKIN, inviting the fascinating parts implied in the realization of these works to be to the height of their task…
