Experts from these three countries studied the routes and identified the constraints during a tripartite held in Burundi and Uvira from December 20 to 21, 2019.

Sources close to the ministry fof Transport and transportation routes contacted by digitalcongo.net revealed that this railroad will leave a Tanzanian city for then connecting Burundi and the DRC.

Experts from three countries involved in this project also worked on a roadmap to materialize this initiative. It is now up to the decision-makers of these three countries to approve the said roadmap before its implementation. According to our sources, the experts carried out a prospecting visit to the field to get an idea of the preliminary work to be carried out.

Many experts in the field of rail transport agree that this project will contribute and create an impetus which will not fail to boost the economic and social development of the populations of these three countries. It is part of the concerns of the African Union (AU) which would like to see African States being connected to each other, integration which will promote the creation of a market at continental level. This means the railway is the safest transport route for the evacuation of goods intended for import and export.
