In his speech, President Felix Tshisekedi did not hide his vision, on Monday, December 9, 2019, to see the DRC appear as the world capital of this meeting, considering the 9th Summit of Heads of State and Government of ACP countries as a historic moment for the country.

"I feel comfortable with the main theme of this meeting as multilateralism and inclusion are the bases of my commitment to repositioning intercontinental cooperation as a multi-sectorial lever for socio-economic development and the desire to act together around the World challenges.

It should be said that "the multilateralism that we want for a strengthened and committed Africa-Caribbean-Pacific group would like our southern states, considering the road traveled since independence, to work around their common interests that characterize them. With a summit entitled "A transformed and committed ACP group for multilateralism".

For the Congolese Head of State, multilateralism is therefore a powerful lever for defining a legal framework based on a common basic agreement with the aim of consolidating peace, managing migration, unlocking economic potential and the fight against climate change. This will contribute to the economic agenda of the African and Caribbean regional pillar through a transformation of the partnership, Felix Tshisekedi said.

It should be noted that the ACP group, revisited, will constitute a strong political alliance with the objective of developing solutions to the specific needs of each Region, including growth, good management, job creation, human development, peace, security and migration issues.

Félix Tshisekedi also exhorted his peers to encourage the active participation of women and young people in public life for representation at all levels of governance and the private sector to strengthen gender equity in the legislative and decision-making processes of women and men of ACP countries, he added.

It is worth noting that this is the first time that the Democratic Republic of Congo, through its president, participates in the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Africa States, Caribbean and Pacific Group (ACP).

One more reason for the President of the Republic reiterated his offer to organize the next session of the ACP-EU Council of Ministers in Kinshasa in 2020. "We welcome you to our capital where your delegations will experience the legendary Congolese hospitality", he confirmed.
