The General Commissariat of Social Affairs, Gender, Family and Vulnerable People has initiated in Kinshasa a capacity building workshop for executives and social agents of the capital. The agenda of this training organized from Tuesday 26 to Wednesday 27 November 2019 focused on general notions of human rights.


The services that took an active part in this workshop were, among others, the Urban Division of the Inspectorate and Control of Social Affairs, (DUICAS), the Urban Division of Social Affairs, (DUAS), represented by their respective heads of offices and secretarial staff of various social services departments of the city of Kinshasa.

Various themes have been discussed to illustrate all facets of human rights. On the first day, Mr. Georges Lwanga of the United Nations Joint Human Rights Office in the DRC focused his presentation on international, regional and national legal instruments for the protection of human rights.

Before proceeding to the evaluation of the knowledge devoted at the end of the first day, MM. Martina Ndi and Emmanuel Nongera, respectively of the BCNUDH and Child Protection, worked on the principles basic of monitoring and reporting as well as on the protection and rights of the child.

Several other topics were discussed during the second day. These include issues related to the rights of people living with HIV / AIDS by Natalie Marini of UNAIDS, rights of persons with disabilities by Marie-Jocelyne Palenquet of the UNJHRO, as well as gender-based on violence and sexual rape with Corine Nguegang of the UNJHRO.
