The Chikungunya epidemic now affects more than five health zones that run from the Kongo-Central forest through the municipality of Mont-Ngafula to Maluku.

Last weekend in Kinshasa, a campaign against this epidemic was launched at HJ Hospital, in the municipality of Limete, 1st Street, industrial district.

This campaign sponsored by the President of the Republic, Felix Tshisekedi, will begin by raising awareness of the population. It will follow a medical care. The goal is to send information about this epidemic to more people, to promote prevention.

Chikungunya is transmitted by a bite of a mosquito commonly called "Aedes" and does not have a vaccine yet, even less drugs for its treatment, for the moment. Its treatment is still symptomatic. The disease is manifested by high fever, headache, stomachaches and muscle aches.
