The rate of access to electric power in the DRC is 8%, according to official figures announced by the Head of State at the opening of the Forum on electricity on August 20 in Matadi, capital of Kongo Central province.

For his part, the local chief, Jean N'Landu Sangu, pointed out that the Inga dam is a big investment by the Congolese State, which should in principle transform this region, before supporting projects with visible impacts which will be proposed during this forum.

He also pointed out that today, there is a result, the Seke-Banza territory was enlightened in 2003, about thirty years after the commissioning of the dam. "We are looking to identify projects and achievements that can be put on the list of Seke-Banza territory development projects," he said.

He made an unfortunate observation that in Seke-Banza, despite the energy, there are no factories, banks, big schools and not even a police camp. He suggested that with the Inga III project, there will be significant results compared to Inga I and Inga II.
