The President of the Republic, Félix Antoine TshisekediTshilombo, was back in Kinshasa since Tuesday afternoon after having chaired, at Matadi in Kongo Central, the opening ceremony of 1st Forum on "Electric Power in the Democratic Republic of Congo" ".

Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, in his speech, specified that access to electricity is the first economic priority of his five-year program, recognizing also the historic responsibility to take up the challenge of electrification in the DRC.

He also asked to overcome the paradox of a country with electrical potential among the top five in the world but unfortunately is the last in the rate of access to electricity and said that the emergence of the country depends on it.

Noting the lack of stable energy and quality, the Head of State stressed that the development of the country's significant mineral potential, and even the completion of the deep-sea port of Banana, are entirely dependent on the potential supply of electrical energy.

According to Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, with the expected consolidation of the electricity sector, domestic and foreign economic operators will find the opportunity to invest in this sector.

Thus, he wished that the participants to leave this forum with strong recommendations that call for the acceleration of the action.

This meeting which will conclude the theme of this thesis: "To make an assessment, management and impact on industry and rural development", addresses topics related to the energy potential of DRC, its management and its impact on the industry and sustainable development, with the aim of providing some solutions to the thorny problem of serving electricity that the country has known for decades.

The President of the Republic, Felix Antoine TshisekediTshilombo, ensured that the access to electricity is the first of the economic priorities of his program for the five-year period.

In 1982, recalled, the Head of State, the country counted approximately 22 million inhabitants for a capacity installed about 2442 MW against a capacity being currently located at 2625 MW for nearly 80 million families, estimating that the retreat recorded in the electric energy sector, with a rate of access evaluated today to 8 %, a little shining evolution of the sector translates the weakness of the capacities of management and planning.
