Also in the same communique, Unicef informs that during the same period, 2,469 children were separated from their parents or guardians, left alone while adults were screened and treated, or isolated because they have been in contact with an infected person.

"This epidemic has been particularly devastating for children. With grief and anxiety, many of these children face discrimination, stigma and isolation. Facing this situation, UNICEF, in collaboration with its partners and the concerned communities, is working to quickly identify affected children and provide support to their physical, psychological and social needs", revealed Pierre Ferry, person in charge of the protection childhood programs of UNICEF in the DRC.

In the same vein, UNICEF has already trained 906 psychosocial assistants and psychologists who provide individualized assistance in food, psychological and material support to orphans and unaccompanied children.


She also runs three nurseries next to the Ebola treatment centers in the outbreaks of the epidemic. These nurseries are run by survivors of this epidemic immunized against the disease. They look after infants and very young children pending the end of treatment from their parents or guardians, the same statement revealed.
