The Secretary General of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Welfare, Jean Masasu proceeded Monday, July 5 at the closing ceremony of capacity building training on social protection. This training was organized for media professionals from August 2 to 5, 2019.

He added that in the DRC, social security has existed since the time of independence in 1960 and social security was conducted with a decree 1961 organic law of social security which dates from 1961 and this decree of 1961 was put in the drawer, on July 15, 2016, the date on which the Head of State promulgated the new law on social security.

This new law, although promulgated in 2016, was effectively implemented on July 15, 2018, why the law is there, but it was necessary to provide all the law enforcement measures to make it effectively operational so that the law becomes effective

He said that compared to this new law, there are many innovations among which, we note: the various benefits to families that are more important because they help to balance the family.

He pointed out that retirement comes once after career, but family benefits are more than important because they allow you to keep the family in balance, these family benefits to qualify for prenatal maternity benefits, prenatal maternity benefits

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare pointed out that by providing social protection that has four pillars: Social Security, Social Assistance, Social Insurance as well as Mutual Health.

In addition to maternity benefits, it was said last time that a pregnant woman must be followed by the social security fund and last Saturday, the Minister of State in charge of Labor and Social Welfare launched the program operation of the care of the mother to the child.

The safety box will provide pregnant moms with a notebook for the development and monitoring of pregnancy until maternity, that is to say, until childbirth. This will allow benefiting from antenatal benefits at the time of prenatal consultations.

For his part, Pomuco's executive secretary, Henri Kamvuze, spoke about the importance of a framework of dialogue called "network of media personnel on the right to social protection", a basic foundation on the question related to social protection which will be built together.

He added that social protection is not only the business of the authorities, is also a matter for everyone, "As we, Pomuco, we have woven an alliance with the media professionals who gave birth to this network. The network of media staff on social protection is a framework that will allow us to move forward.

He pointed out that this framework will allow through strategies that will be put in place to reach the population and the authorities as well as the technical and social partners.
Ms. Bibi Mwika, coordinator of the network of child-friendly journalists Rjae in acronym, officially handed over the statement of media professionals on the right to social protection to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare.
