"I would also like to thank you for the confidence that your Authority has placed in my modest person, by appointing me first and then appointing me by presidential decree, to act as Vice-chairman of the CENI on behalf of our party, PPRD", mentioned Norbert Basengezi in his letter of resignation to the PPRD President, Comrade Joseph Kabila.

He said satisfied of these two mandates within this citizen institution. At the time of a press conference organized on Tuesday June 18 in Kinshasa, he recognized that all is not perfect, and hopes that his successors will continue what his team could not do. The day before, he had resigned of his post of vice-chairman of the electoral Commission.

Mr Basengezi recalled that the law grants CENI members a non-renewable 6-year term. "I am a big leader, I would not want to bother my political party for my replacement, because the term ends in this month of June. Men go by and the institutions remain", he said.
