The President of the African Development Bank (BAD), Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina, arrived in Kinshasa on Monday, June 17, for official visit of four days in the Democratic Republic of Congo, at the invitation of the Head of State, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo. During this stay, intended to strengthen the bilateral partnership between his institution and the DRC, Akinwumi Adesina will have exchanges with the Congolese Head of State on development topics.
On Tuesday, June 18, President Tshisekedi and his host will exchange with economic operators as part of a panel on their vision of the development of the DRC. The strategic dialogue between the Bank and Congolese public and private institutions will also be on the agenda of President Adesina's first official visit in Congo-Kinshasa.
The program also includes a meeting with Prime Minister Sylvestre Ilunga Ilunkamba, President of the Republic's Chief of Staff, Vital Kamerhe, and stakeholders, including representatives of the ministries of finance, budget agriculture, SMEs, energy, transport, mining, environment and plan.
It is also planned on Tuesday a press conference that should chair the president of the BAD. Adesina will then travel to Inga, Kongo Central province on Wednesday, June 19, where the bank is helping to build Inga, the mega hydroelectric power station on the Congo River. Inga is an integrative project for Africa. In addition to the Inga project, the President of the DRC and his host will not fail to mention the Kinshasa-Brazzaville Road-Rail Bridge Project, of which BAD is one of the main sponsors.
It should be noted that the DRC has had a strong partnership for several decades with the African Development Bank Group. The BAD therefore remains a strategic partner for the DRC in reviving its economy, its diversification as well as its regional integration.
