University professors, students as well as researchers and experts welcome the accelerated presidential program to fight against poverty in order to reduce the inequalities found in urban and suburban areas, said Monday at the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN).
This program focused on "the accelerated presidential program of struggle against poverty in the DRC: content and approach" will be implemented soon, it says emphasizing that the university community is trying to collect the contributions of scientists.
University professors, students, researchers, experts and politicians as well as diplomats believe that this program, initiated by the presidency in collaboration with the Congolese Observatory of Sustainable Development (OCDD), the United Nations Program for Development (UNDP) and UNIKIN stressed during a conference the need to focus on entrepreneurship, agroforestry, promotion of the value chain taking into account the concerns of farmers, the need to mobilize funding for this program.
The four themes focus on: "Poverty profile and PUDC steering strategy in the DRC", "Current trends in poverty in the DRC and prospects", "Synthesis of the emergency program of community development: axes and indicators of "intervention" and "the role of UNDP in the fight against poverty: assessment and prospects".
The Special Adviser of the Head of State in charge of the fight against poverty, Badibanga, who talked on "the poverty profile and steering strategy of the PUDC in the DRC", presented this accelerated program of the Head of State indicated that it is an urgent component to overcome poverty and reduce the inequalities found in urban and suburban areas in the DRC.
It reintegrates the different social needs into water, health, electricity, education, agriculture, housing, jobs and others. "The general condition of the rural Congolese population is" poverty, "he continued, noting that 15 DRC territories out of the 145 rural areas have been classified as extremely poor, with average poverty in these territories to 94%.
Mr. Badibanga noted the accelerated program piloting strategy of dividing the entire rural population into six regions with a view to the possible diversification of implementing partners, taking into account the degree of poverty, connectivity and empowerment to achieve the profile by territory, monitoring and control at the grassroots level with a national steering committee led by the presidency comprising 12 delegates from ministries. Badibanga concluded by saying that this program will have to create a middle class by training business incubators.
