In 2018, according to the Annual Report of the Humanitarian Fund in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), at least 2.54 million people were assisted thanks to the projects financed by the DRC Humanitarian Fund.

With a total of $ 67.9 million allocated during the year, 62 partners were able to implement 125 projects to address the priority needs of the most vulnerable people in the areas of essential household items and emergency shelter, water, hygiene and sanitation, education, nutrition, protection, health, food security and logistics.

The humanitarian context in 2018 remained alarming, mainly due to new internal displacements, a situation of food insecurity affecting 101 of the 145 territories, two outbreaks of Ebola virus disease, as well as epidemics of cholera, measles and case of yellow fever.

In response to the most urgent needs, the DRC Humanitarian Fund has significantly increased the number of partners and projects funded compared to the previous year. In 2017, $ 35.8 million had been allocated to 43 projects implemented by 36 partners.

Allocations for 2018 have been specifically targeted at the needs of conflict-affected populations, where access to basic services, already limited, had been significantly reduced, particularly as a result of population movements. They mainly targeted the eastern provinces - Ituri, Nord Kivu, Sud Kivu, Tanganyika, Haut-Katanga - and the Kasai region.

During the year 2018, ten donors contributed to the DRC Humanitarian Fund 11.7 per cent of the total amount received for the 2018 Humanitarian Response Plan for the DRC. This amount has doubled compared to 2016. Thanks to this generosity, the DRC Humanitarian Fund has been able to respond effectively to many emergency situations in the country. The ten donor countries are the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Norway, Canada, South Korea and Luxembourg...
