The Directorate General of Migration (DGM) gave two months to foreigners staying illegally in the DRC to comply with the Congolese state before the launch on 17 July 2019 of the control, told the press, the Managing of the DGM, Roland Kashwantale Chihoza.

These irregular expatriates must complete their documents in accordance with the law on the police of foreigners, namely "to bring proof of personal residence, knowing that no colocation practice is tolerated ...", said Roland Kashwantale Chihoza, adding that they must also "justify sufficient income to cover their stay" in the DRC. For the number 1 of the DGM, this will help avoiding tax evasion and the Congolese state to have the means of control.

In addition, the West African community is one of the problematic communities, said Roland Kashwantale, while arguing that the DGM will do everything to bring everyone to regularize his situation. The DGM, it is said, is also committed to protecting the employment of nationals.

In recent months, Asian nationals found in illegal situation have been expelled, Roland Kashwantale was promoted, on February 2, 2019, chief executive of the DGM, replacing François Beya who was appointed special advisor on security of the President of the Republic Félix Antoine Tshisekedi.

The DGM, it is recalled, is a public service of the Congolese State with administrative and financial autonomy. Its mission consists in the execution of the government policy on immigration, the execution on Congolese soil of the laws as well as the regulation on immigration and emigration, the police of foreigners, the border police heard such as the regulation of entry and exit from the national territory, the issuance of ordinary passports to nationals and visas to foreigners, and finally collaboration in the search for criminals and criminals or suspects reported by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
