It is « La main sur le cœur » NGO which organizes this event at Kempiski Fleuve Congo Hotel. During this conference-debate, it will be question of popularizing the date of May 7, devoted to the orphan of HIV / AIDS. But also, make understand the extent that this disease takes in Congolese children infected and affected. Because, the care of the Congolese orphan of the HIV/AIDS is very critical, reports a press release of this structure.

However, this NGO notes that the lack of data on the exact number of sick children under treatment and the follow-up is the main problem that unfortunately characterizes these orphans, whose situation must absolutely improve.

To support this deplorable finding, the HIV sero-surveillance survey of pregnant women attending ANC services in 2015 in 60 sentinel sites estimates an average HIV prevalence of 2.1% for the 15 to 49 years old. This prevalence is 1.6 among young people aged 15-24, the source reveals.

To date, according to the survey, the DRC has a deficit of data on the epidemiological profile and also the lack of disaggregated data for adolescents and young people. This limits as for fixing the goals for the age group of 15-19 years.

Thus, the president of « La main sur le cœur » NGO Ms. Dany Nyembwe stressed the importance of organizing this conference. To hear him: "It is important to organize this conference-debate, because when we talk about pediatric HIV, people do not realize the extent of the DRC in monitoring, treatment and pediatric services.

This is important for the first time because it will allow people to ask good questions to speakers, who are the doctors, and to really talk about what is happening in the DRC at the level of treatment and followed, she adds.

According to Dany Nyembwe, the country does not have a database on the pediatric situation of HIV / AIDS. "Some children whose parents have died of HIV and have been infected by HIV have not reached five years of age. This is very serious. These orphans often die at two or three years of age. Which is not normal, "she laments.

The president of « La main sur le cœur » NGO is convinced that this conference will debate publicly the issue of pediatric care of orphans infected and affected by HIV. Each partner, national or international in this sector, will face its responsibilities, she says.

"Most institutions do not know what's really going on. When talking about HIV/AIDS orphans day, some companies do not understand anything. They do not know that there is such a day. For them, everything is limited to December 1st. And so, we invited everyone to understand that the situation of these sick children remains deplorable", Ms. Dany Nyembwe said.

For this purpose, several interventions are planned during this meeting. At the end of this conference debate, this NGO specializing in the care of orphans of HIV / AIDS, intends to make recommendations to help the country to have a specification or a roadmap on the pediatric situation of HIV / AIDS. This will allow the country to coordinate all the different interventions of partners for better and better care for children with HIV, Dany Nyembwe concluded.
