After the meager harvest of the Doing Business 2019 report, the Democratic Republic of Congo intends to make up this delay and take flight, by winning, at least, six places for the 2020 rating. This, in particular, thanks to the various reforms carried out in the framework for improving the business climate, among others, in the business creation sector.

"With these achievements, for the rating Doing business2020, the DRC aims to win at least six more places," reassured the Director General of ANAPI (National Agency for the Promotion of Investments).

For this purpose, the Director General of ANAPI proceeded on Monday, 30 April, to the official submission of a memorandum containing the reforms carried out by the various State departments with the assistance of the private sector, to the Government of the Republic in view of advocating with the authorities empowered for a better making in "Doing business". It was the Minister of State, Minister of Planning, Modeste Bahati Lukwebo, who proceeded, on behalf of the Government, to the receipt of the memorandum and the special compendium of the Official Journal, in which these reforms are recorded. It was during a workshop organized by ANAPI on Monday, April 30, 2019, at the Grand Hotel in Kinshasa.

For Modeste Bahati, the work done puts the DRC in competition with other countries in the framework of Doing Business. "We are working to improve the business climate with a view to attracting more investment in our country. In the DRC, it is ANAPI that coordinates all the work related to "Doing business" and, today, its Director-General has handed us the memorandum, which constitutes the bulk of the work done.

We hope this time that in 2020, the DRC will improve its position, because in 2019, the country fell by two places while in 2018, we had already gained some places. We hope to recover them in 2020, taking into account of the work that has been done, "said the Minister of State in charge of Planning. This, before continuing:" it is true that we are working in a very difficult context with political changes that have implications on the business climate. Of the remainder, the work that has been done is excellent, we are going to hand it over to the World Bank in DRC to allow our country to make space in the "Doing business" 2020, "he said.

For his part, the Director General of ANAPI, Anthony Nkinzo, has, among other things, indicated during the presentation of the reforms that today is the culmination of the efforts of the various sectoral services of the DRC which have impelled certain reforms, in accordance with the road map signed by the government and implement in the context of improving the business climate.

"These achievements," the ANAPI CEO said, "have perceptible and verifiable indicators particularly in the business creation sector of obtaining the building permit, obtaining loans, transfer of ownership, trade cross-border connection of electricity... the payment of taxes as well as questions of transparency", Anthony Nkinzo let know.
