He totaled 81 years on March 19, years marked by more than 60 years of uninterrupted artistic career. He said in an interview with Radio Okapi that he had accomplished his mission. He recommended that young people do better than him.
"I accomplished my mission. Let others follow in my footsteps and do not borrow immoral ways. I consider myself as a music teacher. What I ask young people is to ban insanities in songs and dance. We must not blindly mimic the cultures of others. We must be able to teach through music", Simaro Lutumba recommended.
