On this occasion, public opinion is sensitized to the devastating health and socio-economic consequences of the disease and to the intensification of the action to put an end to the global epidemic of the epidemic.

The celebration of 19 world days of fight against tuberculosis will be placed, Sunday, March 24, 2019, under the theme "It's time". A theme that stresses the urgency of taking action to honor the commitments made by world leaders to expand access to prevention and treatment; to promote equitable and human rights-based action; ensure sufficient and sustainable funding, including for research; help end stigma and discrimination; better accountability.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the date of March 24 is the day when, in 1882, Dr. Robert Koch announced that he had discovered the bacillus causing tuberculosis, and so allowed to consider diagnosing and curing the disease. Tuberculosis, says the organization, remains the most deadly infectious disease in the world. Every day, nearly 4,500 people die and close to 30,000 contract this preventable and curable disease.

It is estimated that worldwide TB control has saved 54 million people since the year 2000 and reduced the death rate by 42%. To intensify the action taken in the countries and to reach the targets set, the Heads of State met in September 2018 at the first high-level meeting of the United Nations devoted to this issue and have made a firm commitment to end the tuberculosis. In conjunction with the Global Fund and the Stop TB Partnership, WHO launched an initiative entitled "Find. «Find. Treat. Ail. #EndTB» with the goal of scaling up TB control and ensuring access to care, consistent with its global campaign for universal health coverage

On this day, WHO calls on governments, affected communities, civil society organizations, health care providers and national and international partners to join forces under the banner «And. Treat. Ail. «EndTB» to leave no one behind...
