The strengthening regional stability, promoting good governance, fighting corruption, strengthening trade links, and supporting the response to the Ebolad epidemic in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo were also on the agenda.

Previously US Deputy Secretary of State for African Affairs, Tibor Peter Nagy, had traveled to Goma, the capital of Nord Kivu Province where he visited the Ebola Operations Center with Mike Hammer as US ambassador in DRC.
