The President of the Republic, Félix Antoine TshisekediTshilombo, returned to Kinshasa on Thursday, after a 48-hour mission to Nairobi, Kenya where he took part in the work of the 4th United Nations General Assembly for the Environment organized by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

In his address during these meetings, the President of the Republic called for awareness and prohibition of deforestation in the fight against deforestation, adding that the fight against global warming must be permanent. He stressed that the DRC has a special role to play in this fight.

In the margin of this work, the Head of State agreed to "go ahead", during a tripartite meeting with his Kenyan homologue Uhuru Kenyatta and French Emmanuel Macron. The three Heads of State who shared a dinner, after having exchanged on the last electoral process in the DRC, concluded that "we must move forward".

The interlocutors of President Félix Antoine TshisekediTshilombo who are also waiting for the appointment of the Prime Minister, have advised him "an opening cabinet, which gives room to the opposition."


Emmanuel Macron and Uhuru Kenyatta also congratulated the new Congolese Head of State, who is beginning to show goodwill at the example of the reopening of the Shengend House, the European Visa Center. This consular representation, managed by Brussels, was common to 17 countries and issued European visas to the Congolese.

The mandate of the UN force in the DRC which is to be renewed this month, was also mentioned by the three Heads of State. For the Elysée, "we need a dialogue with the UN to know what role it will play in the future". The situation in eastern DRC, Beni and the Ebola outbreak was also among the concerns raised by DRC partners.

President Felix Tshisekedi arrived in Nairobi on Wednesday to take part in this work. This is the second time that the Head of State has been in Kenya for a month since his investiture on January 24, 2019.
